Genentech Hiring for Scientific Communications Writer and Visual Specialist Job at South San Francisco, CA Full Time

The Position

Supports the Principal Scientific Communications Lead (SCL) with the development and maintenance of scientific narratives and publication plans for the gRED Early Clinical Development (ECD) portfolio. Leads and manages the creation and maintenance of molecule-related core slide decks, medical graphics, and other portfolio presentations within Scientific Communications for gRED ECD through collaboration with key cross-functional stakeholders and with oversight from the Principal Scientific Communications Lead.

Duties

• Assist in the development and maintenance of scientific communication deliverables as needed with oversight from Principal SCL, including:
  • Scientific narratives for gRED ECD portfolio molecules and disease states, including scientific statements, literature review, and competitor assessments
  • Publication planning for gRED ECD molecule and non-molecule teams
• Create and maintain gRED molecule core slide decks utilizing the scientific narratives:
  • Generate medical graphics and visuals for effective display of scientific concepts, including for disease pathology, target biology, and molecule MOA
  • Format and redraw data figures and tables as needed
  • Format PowerPoint layouts and slides to ensure consistency and narrative flow
• Create and maintain slide and graphic libraries and style guides for the gRED ECD portfolio
• Assist ECD leadership with scientific and board of director presentations by providing graphic and formatting support to ensure slides are visually focused and compelling:
  • Format and redraw figures and tables as needed
  • Format layout of presentation, updating look and feel of slides as needed

Skills

• Doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., MD, PharmD) in the life sciences or other relevant scientific or clinical discipline
• Minimum of 2 years of medical writing in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
• Graphic design and layout abilities with proficiencies in Adobe Illustrator and MS PowerPoint required; experience in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop preferred
• Must demonstrate a high-quality writing style in the English language and have the ability to independently analyze and synthesize data from a broad range of disciplines
• Proficient in scientific and clinical, peer reviewed writing, editing, reviewing and submission of abstracts, posters, oral presentations, manuscripts and reviews with different audiences
• Exceptional organizational and project planning skills with particular attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate and work in a cross-functional environment with a wide range of people to achieve results
• Dynamic, self-starter with strong influential skills and adaptable to change
