There are two positions available, one FT and the other 30 hours. The salary range for this full-time remote role is $79,000-$85,000; the 30 hour position will be a prorated salary. This is a remote position preferably located in Berkeley, CA or Washington, DC areas. Offers are determined based on relevant skills and experience required for the position.

Who You Are:

Transformational and Authentic Leader: Design and implement hard-hitting campaign plans aimed at pressuring both public and private sector to strengthen their policies and criteria for lending. Provide leadership and build effective, broad-based coalitions and advocacy strategies to advance campaign objectives, including organizing on the ground actions. Educate companies, financiers and policymakers on the social and environmental harms of industrial livestock and the need for stronger private and public finance policy. Support activities of the Stop Financing Factory Farming (SFFF) campaign, a global campaign targeting the IFC/World Bank and the leading regional development banks. Help lead engagement efforts with external allies and partners in the U.S., Europe and Global South, mobilizing a global movement to end factory farm finance and redirect investments towards smaller-scale, diversified, agroecological production systems.

Relationship Builder: Identify and develop partnerships and alliances with front line groups in Latin America and other regions to monitor the social and environmental impact of key investments and amplify voices in the fight against harmful agriculture finance. Supervise and manage interns and consultants, as needed.

Strong Communicator and Results Oriented: Represent Friends of the Earth in media interviews, conferences, at public events, and in meetings with companies and policymakers to support campaign objectives and reach key audiences. Develop and implement effective communication strategies including online and offline organizing, traditional and social media, press monitoring and outreach and narrative development in conjunction with food and agriculture, forests, membership and communications teams and other stakeholders. Develop factsheets, web content, press releases, op-eds, blogs, social media, action alerts and other campaign materials.

Collaborative Team Member: Able to effectively collaborate with other Friends of the Earth’s teams and allies to expose and combat corporate greenwashing, using finance as a lever to pressure agribusiness to reduce its climate impact and other social and ecological harms, while promoting more just and sustainable alternatives for resilient food production. Work in collaboration with lead staff from Friends of the Earth’s food and agriculture and forests programs, membership and communications teams, allies and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• At least 6 years of experience and demonstrated success in corporate campaigning and organizing, preferably at a campaign-oriented organization (relevant educational experience can be considered in lieu of work experience).
• Ability to balance and successfully complete a wide range of campaign activities including advocacy, online and offline organizing, public speaking, partnership development, coalition work, policy advocacy, research, and communications.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and comfort with presenting material to a wide range of audiences, including civil society organizations, funders, supporters, journalists, companies, Bank staff and government officials.
• Excellent decision-making skills, professional initiative, time management, prioritization and networking skills, demonstrated initiative, flexibility and creativity.
• In depth understanding of the industrial agriculture system, the intersection between food and climate, the connection of food justice to racial justice, and the benefits of agroecological farming systems.

• Familiarity with ESG strategies for investors and financial institutions.
• Ability to travel occasionally as needed (once Covid restrictions are lifted).
• Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Office and basic Microsoft programs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to inspire trust and respect among colleagues and external partners.
• All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. FOE does not sponsor any employment related visas.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A background in international development policy, environmental issues, public health, racial justice, food systems, environmental science, and/or public policy.
• An understanding of international financial institutions and global agricultural supply chains (deforestation, regenerative agriculture, plant proteins).
• Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese.
