What you’ll do as a Pharmacist-in-Charge:
o Serve as the legal Pharmacist-in-Charge for the dispensing pharmacy.
o Ensure compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations for the pharmacy entity.
o Responsible for the pharmacy’s sterile and non-sterile compounding areas and activities.
o Responsible for the management of all controlled substances, including but not limited to storage, inventory, record-keeping, and dispensing o Manage all clinically related operations for the dispensing pharmacy.
o Directly supervise and manage day-to-day performance of all Staff Pharmacists, IV Department personnel, and assigned Technician staff.
o Monitor and adjust pharmacy workflow/personnel to accommodate changes in volume of work.
o Ensure Pharmacists and assigned Technicians are effectively scheduled to ensure that staffing requirements of each shift are met.
o Develop, monitor, evaluate, and coordinate policies, procedures, protocols, and process guidelines for all internal clinical pharmacy services to ensure the provision of safe, effective, and economical pharmacotherapy for all patients.
o Participate in the company’s quality improvement (QI) initiatives, including gathering and interpretation of quality metrics, involvement in process improvement activities, and participation in quarterly QI meetings.
o Develop and implement pharmacy goals and objectives on an ongoing basis consistent with Forum’s strategic and operating plan.
o Plan, organize, and operate the pharmacy according to Forum’s goals, policies and procedures.
o Lead the development of pharmacy strategic and operational plans.
o Lead the planning, organization, and administration of the pharmacy staff training and development activities.
o Provide leadership and direction for all pharmaceutical care processes performed.
o Lead and coordinate daily operations to meet customer needs and achieve desired results.
o Maintain clinical and regulatory competence.
o Build customer knowledge, resolve issues, and develop measures that will support a process of continuous improvement in patient care and drug-use outcomes.
o Work to continuously improve the safety of the medication delivery and use process by developing and implementing strategies to minimize the occurrence of medication errors and adverse drug reactions.
o Work to conduct and/or attend regular meetings and apply team building and quality management principles to continuously measure and improve service quality and error rates.
o Attend client meetings and events as needed to foster positive client relationships.
o Maintain familiarity with the varied needs and concerns of individual client facilities.
o Hire and manage the performance, development, and training of direct reports.
o Model values in the performance of work duties.
o Work with Human Resources to recruit, interview and hire quality personnel required to achieve departmental objectives.
o Participate in annual employee evaluations as well as regular performance feedback throughout the year.
o Identify employee needs for training/certification and develop improvement plans with employee and human resources designee as needed.
o Work with Human Resources to administer performance improvement plans and/or corrective action as may be required for assigned employees.
What we need:
o Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree o Current unencumbered license in good standing as a Registered Pharmacist in the state of practice o Previous supervisory/management experience in a pharmacy environment o Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
o Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Can interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
o Understand business implications of decisions; displays orientation to profitability; aligns work with strategic goals; works within approved budget; develops and implements cost saving measures; contributes to profits and revenue; conserves organizational resources.
o Possess good communication abilities through listening, speaking and writing skills.
o Able to perform the functions of a staff pharmacist, including filling in on all shifts.
o Able to use computers and software for scheduling, memoranda, agendas, etc.
Familiarity with Framework LTC, Docutrack, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook helpful.
Proficient with at least one pharmacy computer software.
o Sitting, standing, walking; at desk, in office throughout facility and pharmacy.
o Ability to travel to client locations and conferences as needed.
