Assist in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements.
Work under supervision of certified teacher, administrator, or office staff member.
RESPONSIBILTIIES:
Assist in providing focused delivery of instruction in individual and/or small group setting to assist students having difficulties meeting academic standards.
Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
Assist with administrative and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
Help maintain neat and orderly work areas.
Help keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the supervising staff members; work with individual students or small groups.
Supervise whole class activities while teachers work with individuals/small groups.
Help supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside classroom.
Keep supervising staff members informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
High School Diploma or GED.
Candidates must possess or be willing to attain certification as an educational aide.
(Cost is approximately $80.
) SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Ability to work well with children.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Qualifications:
If candidates do not have 48 college hours, they must pass an assessment showing they have the required knowledge for assisting with elementary curriculum.
Some experience working with children.
Experience tutoring students is helpful.
