Job Responsibilities
Lead the development of new products and improvements of current products for Dave’s Killer Bread brand. Deliver on time and within budget and achieve sensory/shelf-life hurdles
Support business decisions through the use of sound bakery science
Own the commercialization process from concept to launch
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to lab scientists including day to day project management, conflict resolution, and career development
Work with a cross functional team including Brand, Sales, Operations, Regulatory, Finance, Sensory, Packaging, and Procurement on all projects
Identify and use multiple methods to generate creative ideas (with team) that realize new product concepts and product improvements
Act as a mentor to the scientific community. Bring new ideas forward and activates them to drive the business.
Ensure that ingredients specifications, formulas, and finished product specification are defined and entered into PLM software.
Effectively partner with Procurement and current/new vendors to reduce cost and identify new applicable technologies
Know organic supply chain/regulations and stays current with industry changes
Practice and comply with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.).
Perform other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures
Desired Experience
7+ years of bakery industry R&D experience with technical knowledge in Product Development, Manufacturing, and/or Operations. At least 3 years managing direct reports in a large CPG company.
Desired Education
Bachelor degree required; M.S. in Food/Baking Science or related field or significant experience and training beyond B.S. degree with strong science aptitude
