About the Opportunity

This is an open position with the FirtEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]

This Accountant position supports the company’s Accounts Payable Department by participating in daily disbursement activities as well as providing data analysis and error resolution. Additionally, this accountant works with various business departments to ensure Accounts Payable business processes are being performed accurately and on a timely basis.

The Accountant position can be sited at any location within the FirstEnergy service territory.

Responsibilities include:

• Demonstrating a commitment to FirstEnergy Core Values and Behaviors
• Providing data analytics support to the Accounts Payable Supervisor using Microsoft Excel and SAP
• Assisting, preparing, and analyzing data to respond to requests from internal and external auditors, including weekly and monthly SOX controls
• Assisting and reconciling balance sheet accounts for the monthly BlackLine process
• Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees at all levels
• Offering ideas or suggestions to improve the accuracy or efficiency of business processes and /or projects
• Providing a high level of customer service, continuous support, and proactive involvement with leadership, peers, and vendors
• Preparing and reviewing daily payment proposals
• Supporting Management by completing ad-hoc requests
• Supporting various business groups with error and issue resolution
• Receiving and processing miscellaneous invoices in a timely manner for the AP Department
• Analyzing invoice payments made in SAP
• Preparing and maintaining monthly reports, summaries, and statistics
• Independently anticipating and working to meet customer needs

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or related discipline and minimum 2 years relevant work experience is required.
• OR Associate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or related discipline and minimum of 4 years relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes understanding basic levels of accounting including balance sheet and income statement entries.
• Strong analytical abilities

• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Experience working with SAP, QlikView, and BlackLine preferred
• Demonstrate a questioning attitude and willingness to learn
• Desire to continue to learn, grow and work across FirstEnergy, and deliver results
• Strong time management skills
• Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
