Strategic Advisers, LLC (SAI) is a registered investment advisor and wholly owned subsidiary of FMR LLC that provides investment management services to clients through Fidelity’s retail and institutional distribution channels. For more than 25 years, SAI has specialized in asset allocation solutions, as well as crafting methodologies for many of Fidelity’s investment planning tools to help investors reach their financial goals. With over $700 billion in assets under management, the SAI team of investment professionals builds and manages asset allocation portfolios for over one million customer accounts. The Portfolio Engineering (PE) function within SAI is responsible for the management, customization, and execution of individual client portfolios. Within the PE function, the Personalized Wealth Management team is focused on our clients’ most complex investment situations.
The Role
The Investment Manager will join the Personalized Wealth Management team in our Colorado office. This person will play a meaningful role in the evolution of managing SAI’s client’s most complex multi-asset class portfolios. The role will combine a high degree of technical proficiency with investment expertise to build scalable solutions to solve complex investment problems and deliver greater personalization to clients. The role is primarily focused on providing tax-sensitive, customized management of multi-asset class portfolios for taxable individuals and trusts for Fidelity Wealth Services. You will learn and implement our overlay management strategies with a goal to improve after-tax returns while controlling risk.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Management
Manage individual client portfolios consistent with Strategic Advisers’ investment philosophy and the unique personalization of each client portfolio. Implement investment strategies based on market movements, tax management opportunities, changes in the model portfolio or investment choices
Utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly synthesize multiple data points and optimize decision making in the pursuit of finding ways to scale the trading of complex multi-asset class portfolios
Generate composite analytics to glean insights into areas of investment risk and address trading opportunities across the investment platform
Monitor and carry out fiduciary responsibilities with a high-level of integrity
Investment Capability Development
Collaborate with the team to design, develop, and test new ideas to drive greater scale and personalization capabilities for the investment platform
Leveraging both qualitative and quantitative methods, identify patterns within large datasets to enhance the Personalized Wealth Management Team’s operational workflow and trading approach.
Prototype tools that enable greater investment effectiveness and build consensus across the team to implement them onto the investment platform
Work in cross functional teams to increase continuity and scale across interconnected workflows
Help shape the strategic vision of a new and growing team
Qualifications
Experience/Education
Graduate degree preferred; degree or emphasis in Engineering/Computer Science/ Finance/Accounting/Economics subjects strongly preferred
Existing or progress toward CFA, CFP, or CPA credential a plus
Three to seven years investment experience in security trading, portfolio management, research or technology development in these fields
Skills and Knowledge
Technical and programming skills including Python, SQL, R and Java
Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau or Spotfire
Ability to work effectively on a collaborative team with a strong spirit of innovation while maintaining comfort in undefined environments
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, a creative approach to problem solving, and the ability to multi-task
Understanding of portfolio theory and quantitative portfolio construction techniques in a taxable environment

$85,000 – $150,000
This position is eligible for incentive compensation or an annual bonus opportunity.
