Emerge Living Looking for Accounting Assistant at Greater Houston Full Time

We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our team. As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Controller, Property Accountants, and Accounts Payable Specialist in overseeing the company portfolio of income producing properties and provide accurate and timely financial information as required. Your attention to detail and strong analytical skills will be essential in performing various accounting tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in tracking all financial activity in the company portfolio of properties.
• Ensure vendor bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner, while adhering to departmental procedures.
• Review Accounts Payable documents for proper signatures, account numbers, receipt of goods, and invoice amounts; correct and verify any differences.
• Process invoices for payment. Verify entries and printed checks before mailing.
• Maintain and reconcile Accounts Payable ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, financial statements, and other reports as required.
• Reconcile vendor monthly statements and payment records/related transactions.
• Assist in maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors.
• Assist with performing data entry for journal entries and other accounting transactions.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• File Management: maintain soft and hard files, scanning, filing, etc.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records with tools used by the organization: RealPage, Micro Soft Excel & Spreadsheets, QuickBooks Pro.
• Assist with financial audits.
• Vendor Check processing.

Ideal Experiences

• One or more years’ proven work experience in accounting with strong knowledge of debits and credits.
• Real estate property accounting experience.
• Ability to manage multiple demands and competing priorities.
• Broad Accounts Payable knowledge with a multi-family company, or other medium to large business.
• Proficient at speaking and writing in the English language.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a demanding environment.
