Staff Accountant Job Description
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to provide a key role to the Accounting Department in facilitating the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement in accordance with GAAP. The position will have the opportunity to contribute immediately to the success of the finance department and exposure to multiple areas of accounting.
Staff Accountant Responsibilities
- Prepare and record journal entries.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and analyze balances for accuracy.
- Prepare financial date in oral or written format and communicate effectively to a variety of audiences.
- Record prepaid expenses, analyze and amortize according to terms.
- Record accrued expenses, analyze and adjust, as necessary.
- Record cash, review bank statements and perform reconciliations.
- Assist with federal, state and local governmental filings and tax returns and/or fees processing.
- Perform various analysis of Branch P&L’s
Staff Accountant Skills
- Accuracy, detail-oriented, proactive and sense of urgency
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, strong organization, problem solving and analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft excel
Staff Accountant Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 1-3 years of experience in General Accounting
- Distribution and/or manufacturing experience
- Working knowledge of GAAP principles
- SAP experience preferred
- OneStream experience preferred
Staff Accountant Physical Abilities
- Long hours sitting, standing and utilizing office equipment/computers
- Ability to lift 25 pounds on occasion
