The Marketing Manager for the national Finance practice is a critical role on our practice marketing team with a mission to elevate the brand and services of one of the firm’s most strategic practice groups. Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.
The position requires a self-starter, with accomplished critical thinking skills and an understanding of the value proposition of a transactional practice in a sophisticated global law firm. This professional will collaborate with the Transactions vertical marketing team and sub-practice leadership to enhance awareness of the group’s capabilities and success, inside and outside the firm. Working closely with a dynamic Senior Marketing Manager, this individual should develop and execute
against strategic marketing plans that are reflective of client issues that are driving the need for legal services.
The Marketing department is a highly collaborative team of professionals who work closely with firm, practice and sector leadership to build upon the reputation of DLA Piper and our lawyers. We also measure and track marketing activity to identify the most strategic opportunities for our lawyers. The Marketing Manager will partner with other teams in the Marketing Department, including communications, events, business development, pitch, administrative and executive team members, to achieve business objectives.
Candidates must possess the ability to plan strategically, execute tactically and have a client service focus. They must have the ability to analyze data and use multiple sources of information to develop solutions and recommendations. They must possess strong writing and communications skills. They will need to develop go to market strategies that capitalize on the group’s value proposition and align with the firm’s growth objectives.
This position is remote. However, candidates may be required on occasion to visit the local offices when/if needed. Candidates must reside in a state where there is a DLA Piper office.
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS degree in marketing communications, business or related field required
6 years of marketing/business development experience in a law firm or professional services environment
Strong writing and presentation skills
Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and data analysis skills
Proficiency with MS Word/Excel/Power Point
Preferred Requirements:
Experience within Finance or Corporate practice group
Large law firm experience
What will your day look like?
Develop and execute go-to-market plans that deliver results that support brand strategy and focus on practice priority areas in collaboration with practice group leaders
Manage client-centric and data-driven, integrated marketing and business development campaigns that deliver results against strategic priorities
Lead the strategic implementation of sophisticated marketing tactics across several functional areas of the marketing, BD and communications team that include brand, digital and social marketing, public relations, collateral and sales enablement tools, and events
Understand key business issues our clients are facing, market dynamics, and competitive strategies to improve the development of messaging and go-to-market strategies
Write marketing collateral and business development content, leveraging a strong knowledge of practice capabilities and the practice’s value proposition
Drive an effective strategy for achieving awards and directories’ recognition that reflects the practice group’s capabilities and successes on behalf of clients
Lead the onboarding and integration of key laterals and their client base
Assist with planning practice meetings and retreats
Manage the practice marketing budget to align with practice group priorities
Measure and track results of marketing programs and report on ROI
