Read on to find out more about this opportunity: The Marin County Department of Finance is responsible for the powers and duties of the offices of the auditor, controller, tax collector, treasurer, and public administrator. We serve as a collaborative partner and fiscal advisor to the County government in their consideration of fiscal decisions and planning. ABOUT THE POSITION There is currently a full-time (37.5 hours per week) 2-year fixed term position with the Marin County Department of Finance Fiscal Administrative Services Division. This is an on-site position reporting to the Marin County Civic Center building located in San Rafael, CA. A flexible schedule may be available after successfully completing the first six (6) months of the probationary period. Under the general supervision of the Fiscal Administration Division Chief, our valued Accounting Technician performs a variety of technical, complex financial, administrative and accounting support tasks and functions such as: Quality control checks, accounting, tracking and reconciling duties with an aim towards creating detailed, accurate and complex reimbursement packages to State and Federal agencies such as CalOES and FEMA. Gathering and compiling information on costs incurred related to countywide emergencies Ensuring claim records are audit-ready Compiling reports from a variety of sources including databases, policies, other support teams; and preparing that content for posting in our financial system. The Accounting Technician is the highest technical level in the accounting support series, and therefore a strong understanding of accounting, auditing and reconciliation principles and practices is required for this role. This fixed-term position is funded up to two (2) years but may end sooner or be extended depending on position funding. This is a full-time, fully benefitted position. Per PMR 48.2, fixed term employees are not subject to Reduction in Force rights at the completion of the term. ABOUT YOU Our Highly Qualified Candidate is a reliable, detail-oriented self-starter who can work both independently and as a team member to achieve our goals. They will also be adept at complex reconciliations; managing records; and communicating with a variety of individuals via phone, email and other meeting/video programs. Proficiency with Tyler Munis or other large automated financial system is also highly desirable.
