About the role
Mesh seeks a Portfolio Finance Manager with 5-7 years of work experience within an investment institution to support Mesh’s investment team. The individual ideally has 2+ years working directly with large portfolios and platform teams. Day-to-day responsibilities consist of working closely with investment program leads from our accelerator, incubator, and venture firm as well as interfacing with some of our founders from around the world. The role will help establish financial best practices and enhance our data accuracy for the organization moving forward.
Internally, this person will work directly with Mesh Partners, Finance, People and Talent, Legal, Operations and Platform team members to drive both financial and strategic returns for Mesh, primarily achieved through traditional financial analysis, calculations, and evaluations based on expected ROI, discounted cashflow and more. Externally, this person will be responsible for communicating with Mesh stakeholders, portfolio companies, strategic partners, and vendors to ensure deliverables are completed in a timely manner.
The ideal candidate has passion to learn about blockchains, cryptocurrencies, and new ways of working. Individuals who have worked with this candidate would have positive testimonials of their experience and their history of making defensible decisions in allocating dedicated support and resources.
Responsibilities
Serve as the investment operations central point of contact for portfolio managers, finance team, and other internal stakeholders.
Ensure all corporate transactions and events, including income, write-offs, follow-on investments, and other events, are accurately recorded, documented, validated, and communicated to the appropriate team members.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all necessary portfolio company actions are assessed and acted upon, in a timely manner.
Ensure that all corporate events across all markets and asset types (equities, digital assets, derivatives, revenue-generating positions) are correctly processed, reviewed, and reconciled as necessary in accordance with procedures and event deadlines.
Perform cash management processes for separate accounts, partnering with the Finance team to ensure the cash flows are accurately reflected across all systems.
Develop processes and procedures for tracking transactions, managing relevant data/documents, supporting stakeholders, escalating issues proactively.
Strong working knowledge of risk management and adherence to the highest compliance standards.
Be comfortable and excited to present regular updates to Senior Management, Boards and Committees.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess:
5+ years of work experience within an investment institution
Experience leading multi-disciplinary working groups which drive results.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
A passion for blockchain and/or Ethereum while being open to constantly learning.
Deep familiarity and enthusiasm for working with communication tools and automation. Experience using Airtable, Slack, GSuite, and CRMs are a must.
Familiarity with cap tables, investor rights, and tracking of investments positions through tools like Carta.
An inherent desire to be a team player — always willing to assist colleagues and be a proactive communicator. Collaboration is essential for success in this role.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple on-going projects simultaneously at various stages of the creative process
Ability to work within a high-energy, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Able to effectively manage competing deadlines and ad-hoc requests from stakeholders
Motivation to be a proactive team member with a positive attitude and ability to easily adapt to changing priorities and directions
