This role will have the flexibility to work some days in the office and some days remote.

Key Responsibilities & Results:

• Primary accountability for the coordination, preparation, and analysis of monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Financials should be completed in an accurate and timely manner, in order to provide analytical support to decision makers.
• Balance, review, and coordinate the monthly activity in subsidiary accounting systems such as accounts payable, payroll, miscellaneous billing, job costing, asset management, and management reporting. Primarily accountable for reconciling the subsidiary systems to the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Serve as “department expert” on Great Plains software applications including coordinating new applications and upgrades to ensure seamless, accurate implementations and maximum utilization of system capabilities.
• Assist in the annual audit which ensures the accuracy of the financial records and the reporting requirements of lenders.
• Prepare legal filings and reports as requested, to meet legal filing requirements.
• Perform account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of monthly and annual financial statements.

Required Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related
• 5+ years experience in all aspects of accounting
• Knowledge of GAAP rules and regulations
• Knowledge of State of MN sales tax rules
• Skilled in use of PC based accounting software
• Experience with business intelligence software
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with system upgrades and implementations
• Ability to analyze complex issues
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to relay accounting concepts and principles to non-accounting people

Preferred Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:

• Experience with document management software
• Experience with Great Plains, ADP payroll, and Microsoft Power BI software
• Experience with FERC accounting
