About the Role:
This is a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in building a strong financial foundation for a fast-growing company with significant market opportunity. In this role you will partner with Engineering and Security leadership to understand the story behind the numbers, assess monthly risks and opportunities, and help ensure optimal allocation of Engineering investments across our product portfolio. This role reports directly to Confluent’s Sr. Director of R&D Finance.
What You Will Do:
Lead beyond budgeting and planning – be a thought leader and partner with Engineering leadership to drive strategic initiatives
Ensure timely, accurate, and insightful budgeting, forecasting, and KPI reporting processes to facilitate effective oversight and decision-making, while also ensuring strong financial controls and accuracy
Actively manage financials, and empower Engineering leadership with pertinent metrics around Hiring, Software, T&E, Non Prod Cloud Hosting, and other key spend areas
Work across the R&D finance team to build Product P&L’s and ROI analysis to ensure optimal allocation of Engineering resources and investments across our product portfolio
Prepare executive-grade management reporting, summarizing findings and recommendations for improvement
Manage approvals for both hiring and purchase requisitions, striving to constantly deliver and improve our forecast accuracy
Partner with our Accounting team to perform month-end close activities and help drive process improvements and efficiencies in the close process
Attract and develop talent and act as a coach for team members
What You Will Bring:
7+ years of FP&A experience in a high-growth, public software company
At least 3 years of experience in a hands-on business partnering role with an enthusiastic “roll up your sleeves” mentality
A proven ability to build strong collaborative working relationships with business partners and executives
Effective communication at a detailed technical level while having the ability to elevate for high-level consumption by executives
Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills with a high degree of forecast accuracy
Strong leadership and people management skills a must
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
What Gives You an Edge:
Previous experience supporting an Engineering Org is highly desirable
Previous experience in a SaaS business
Prior experience with Anaplan and NetSuite
