Provide Financial Analysis and Reporting capabilities for the Technical Savings Team and overall materials design work in coordination with R&D resources. This role will have specific business partner responsibilities with the Technical Savings Team, Procurement Leadership, R&D Leadership and Supply Chain Finance Leadership. Scope of activity includes performing all financial analyses/activities related to evaluating our raw material spend cycle for end to end cost savings opportunities. Role will partner very closely with other technical resources on the team, various functional areas inside the company and our outside supplier community. Role will require travel to CAG and vendor locations in order to evaluate opportunities. Role requires excellent leadership and communication skills, as well as, an ability to influence the status quo.
Position Responsibilities
Focus 100% on cost reductions across our end to end raw material spend cycle
Evaluate “best in class” process solutions (regardless of industry) for applicability at CAG
Develop and maintain financial analysis and reporting capabilities needed to report material cost savings on a period/quarter/annual basis. This will require working closely with other members of the Procurement Finance Team to ensure all savings are appropriately forecasted and realized.
Develop process and analytical techniques to effectively evaluate opportunities for reducing costs across the raw material value chain
Synch with other teams across the organization (Mastering Complexity, CPS and R&D as an example) to ensure savings efforts are coordinated and synergistic
Work with supplier technical resources to increase savings ideation, execution and optimization
Develop and maintain project financial and analytical activity in conjunction with the Project Manager to ensure all work meets required financial metrics/targets
Constructively challenge and question various business decisions to ensure business processes are fully optimized
Prepare management summaries on results driven by the team or expected to be driven by the team
Provide formal and informal training on financial concepts and systems to various team members
Position Qualifications
Ability to travel between 20 and 30% each month (primarily to various CAG and vendor locations)
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, business administration or related field
Financial work experience preferred, preferably in consumer packaged goods industry.
Minimum of 3-5 years of related Supply Chain Finance experience, financial management work experience with a strong systems background, preferably in consumer packaged goods industry or supply chain operations with exposure to cost savings tools, techniques and tracking methodologies
MBA, CPA, CMA preferred, but not required
Ability to develop strong relationships and partnerships with internal customers, peers and effectively manage those relationships
Experience leading projects from conception to completion
Strong fundamental knowledge and understanding of GAAP
Ability to manage and make recommendations for efficiencies with systems and tools, such as SAP and supporting applications
Experience effectively working across multiple departments to complete a project or resolve an organizational challenge
Experience accurately forecasting in a given area and understanding the key drivers of that area
Ability to leverage analytics, benchmarking, and insights to generate meaningful strategies and solutions
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
