Position Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating all of the day-to-day activities related to procurement and accounts payable functions for the Department of Ophthalmology.
Responsibilities
Coordinate day-to-day activities related to procurement and accounts payable and ensure compliance with internal and external policies and procedures.
Create check requests to support accounts payable activities for the department such as honorariums, awards, visa renewals, and other related payments.
Responsible for submission of vendor ID requests in the purchasing system and follow-up of completion.
Review of Travel and Business Expense reimbursements.
Initiate purchasing and lease transactions, and change orders as needed.
Order general supplies and minor equipment for the different units within the department.
Identifies and troubleshoots processing delays and provides proactive status update regarding pending transactions.
Maintain comprehensive financial files.
Serves as subject matter expert for all Purchasing and Accounts Payable inquiries.
Offer assistance to faculty and staff regarding accounts payable and purchasing policies.
Process journal vouchers/entries as needed.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
Bright, competent, organized individual, and self-motivated.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of tasks.
Familiarity with Columbia University Financial systems is a plus.
