Job Overview
The Corporate Accountant performs general ledger accounting responsibilities related to the month-end close process. This includes routine journal entries and account reconciliations for Coke Consolidated and its subsidiary businesses. This requires highly developed general accounting skills in corporate-level accounting and reporting activities. This individual performs financial analysis of accounting data and transactions to identify significant fluctuations for review and accuracy. They also support the quarterly and year-end audit responding to internal and external auditors. All positions within the finance team have an uncompromising responsibility to ensure internal controls and business practices are followed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs general ledger accounting responsibilities related to the month-end close process, including routine journal entries and account reconciliations
- Directed to research accounting discrepancies and variances to provide insights for more efficient operations and use of resources.
- Compiles month-end journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Prepares quarterly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues for manager review.
- Creates and implements supporting schedules, calculations and documentation for SEC reporting disclosures that includes maintenance and adherence of accounting control procedures
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables and vlookups)
- Public company experience with large ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Ability to critically analyze account activity and properly reconcile balances.
- Develop and implement accounting processes and procedures by analyzing current practices and recommending changes.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and ensure appropriate follow-up occurs.
- Attention to detail and highly organized.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
- Knowledge acquired through 1 to up to 3 years of related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
