Position Overview
This position will lead the Equity pillar of a two-year grant-funded, early-stage initiative called “Beyond the Megawatt (BTM) (more information is available about this on the CEBI website). This position will support an early-stage project focused on sustainability and the non-financial impact areas of clean energy procurement, specifically the social elements.
The BTM initiative maximizes the environmental and social outcomes that are attainable through leveraging the buying power of large energy consumers in the procurement of clean energy. This initiative advances three primary outcomes: contributing to carbon-free energy systems that are resilient, equitable, and environmentally sustainable. The Equity pillar of BTM incorporates a range of social impacts identified by large energy customers as important to the clean energy procurement process, including community engagement, labor and human rights, and diversity, equity, justice, and inclusion (DEIJ) within the industry.
As the lead of the Equity (DEIJ) pillar, you will report to a Deputy Director who oversees the initiative; and you will collaborate with the other pillar leads and team members.
Core Responsibilities
The Equity pillar in 2022 will focus on building out the program and engaging with stakeholders to determine the focus of the work needed to achieve the institute’s mission. As such, the work is largely based on gathering an understanding of who is involved, what is needed, and building the brand. Such activities include:
Build and execute a project plan for the work and ensure project deliverables stay on time and budget.
Develop and maintain ongoing knowledge of the quickly evolving clean energy equity space.
Identify and prioritize needs to advance and embed equity in the clean energy transition in the U.S.
Coordinate with the Beyond the Megawatt team and broader CEBI teams to build the brand and presence of the work
Oversee and support research and develop written materials for the public to understand equity implications of renewable energy adoption and procurement
Advance the Equity pillar, which is in the formation phase. This will include:
Identify, manage relationships, and communicate with key stakeholders in the NGO community, energy buyers, funders, and others in social, equity, diversity, equity, and inclusion work areas.
Design and lead facilitation of innovative and impactful workshops, webinars, and meetings to gather and share best practices and tools and resources created as a part of this work
Support fundraising efforts
Scope and develop the project plan for resources to be created
Support amplification “campaigns” to build a knowledge base about the opportunities that exist for impactful procurement processes.
Other duties as assigned.

Possibility to supervise Coordinator(s) and Senior Associate(s)
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree and 7+ years’ experience or equivalent professional experience.
Project management training or experience leading a project
Additional:
Industry experience is highly preferred in at least one of the following: social justice, environmental justice, frontline community engagement, human rights or labor concerns related to clean or renewable energy.
Passion for CEBA’s mission of activating a community of energy customers and partners to deploy market and policy solutions for a carbon-free energy system
Understanding of U.S. energy markets and clean energy options available.
Experience in campaign management and/or stakeholder engagement processes.
Experience in design, delivery and execution of resources, tools and platforms to provide guidance for organizations seeking to procure renewable energy is a plus.
The ability to readily accept and provide feedback to/from multiple sources
The ability to meet strict deadlines through keeping open communications with team members
Willingness to provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff and colleagues
An openness to learning and an ability to adapt to new situations and changing priorities

Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times when required. Communicate verbally and in written form with great facility and must be able to be understood.
