KENYON MUNICIPAL UTILITIES
Title: Finance Director
Department: Administration & KMU
Immediate Supervisor’s Title: City Administrator & Utility Operation Superintendent
SUMMARY
Performs specialized, financial, and administrative work with primary responsibility, accounting, and related reporting and record keeping and payroll. Provides financial and accounting information to the
Operations Superintendent, City Administrator, the Utility Commission and City Council for informational and decision-making purposes.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
City residents, City Council/employees, KMU Commission/employees other boards and committees; businesses. Other utilities and industry associations, various county and state offices, auditors, financial consultants, CMPAS personnel, local bank, and vendors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Kenyon Municipal Utilities and City of Kenyon; maintains and records receipts in Deputy
Clerks/Administrative Assistant’s absence; records & issues all payments.
CIP programs, and federal and state energy reports.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Systems.
MACHINES, AND EQUIPMENT COMMONLY USED;
Computer, calculator, copier, scanner, fax, postage machine, telephone, and other office equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A.A degree in accounting, finance, public administration, business, or related field and/or university course work in accounting, finance, business, and at least three years of experience in a position with similar responsibilities. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. degree in accounting, finance, public administration, business, or related field. Knowledge of municipal operations, structure, and practices. Specific administrative/office experience in a municipal setting.
WORKING CONDITONS
Work is performed in a typical office environment with extended periods of sitting and prolonged use of computer and related equipment. Ability to meet deadlines. The employee
must occasionally lift and/or move boxes of paper and archived records. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Travel, consisting of short trips, required to make bank deposits.
