The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.
Responsibilities:
Be a trusted advisor to clients, helping them to shape their strategy, deliver wins over short, medium, and long term horizons, and maximize their technology investment. Provide guidance required to drive successful prioritization and sequencing both within projects and across workstreams.
Lead multiple agile development teams, based across time zones, with varying skillsets and covering a range of different technologies. Ensure teams are highly productive using data driven approaches. Ensure teams are staffed appropriately.
Manage deliverables through the full lifecycle from initiation, planning, design, and execution through post-production
Drive change in the organization through strategic leadership and delivery of technology projects to enable change. Think strategically and be open to change.
Hire, train, and develop top talent within the team. Champion people development across the organization.
Identify and manage risks, issues, opportunities, and dependencies to enable on-time delivery with quality
Ensure best in class SDLC standards are followed across the team. Maintain alignment with policies, standards, and best practices. Ensure highest technical quality standards are met and the business solutions delivered are maintainable, scalable, and secure
Communicate to all levels of the organization both verbally and written
Manage financial budget
Rolls up sleeves to solve problems where required
Maintaining a best-in-class culture of compliance and risk and control, ensuring that the platform and each deliverable meet the highest standards for controls and compliance.
Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
10+ years experience with enterprise scale software development
5+ years experience designing application components and leading global development teams
5+ years experience leading significant scale technology projects leading to significant business change
Prior experience with finance, risk, treasury, FP&A, and/or forecasting platforms a benefit, but not required.
Experience with waterfall, iterative, and agile project management, with in-depth knowledge of software development lifecycle
Working knowledge of industry practices and standards
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
Education:
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Master’s degree preferred
