Primary Purpose: The Children Services Finance Manager manages the financial operations of the Children Services Department. Under the direction of the Director for Children Services and in close collaboration with CWS Finance Office, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial systems for the department.
Essential Duties:
Collaborates closely and communicates with the CWS Finance Office on all financial matters affecting the operations of the Children Services Department.
Ensures CWS policies, protocols and standards are followed.
Supports the Director to develop annual operating budget.
Supports the Director to develop budgets for existing and newly proposed projects.
Supports the Director to prepare budget revisions for all projects.
Coordinates with CWS Finance office to prepare monthly expense analysis for all active projects.
Reviews and analyzes the actual vs budget report on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis for all active projects.
Forecasts program revenue and expenditures on a monthly basis.
Supports the Director to determine staff allocations.
Meets with Affiliate directors and Children Services Leadership team to go over expenditures and actual vs target on a monthly basis.
Reviews, approves and submits monthly Affiliate expenses to CWS Finance office in a timely manner.
Provides guidance to budget holders through training on their responsibilities.
Suggest formats for financial reporting to aid financial statement users to better understand the contents of the reports for decision-making and strategic planning purposes.
Maintains appropriate management and controls for utilization of cash and other funds used in the operation of the Children Services Department.
Manages and tracks cash and other funds disbursements.
Reconciles cash and other funds expenses in coordination with CWS Finance Office.
Provides guidance and support to unit on allowable expenses, including but not limited to travel
Reviews, approves and submits employee expense reports and credit cards reports and ensures CWS Finance office receives these items in a timely manner.
Provides support as needed for organizational audit and review processes.
Represents Children Services Department at meetings relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
Undertakes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in non-profit accounting/finance with a strong working knowledge of nonprofit accounting/finance.
Skills:
Strong management and organizational skills required, including familiarity with financial and HR management systems.
Detail oriented. Strong analytical computer skills.
Familiarity with government and private funding and contractual requirements preferred.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment required.

Education & Certifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or , alternatively, Bachelors degree with equivalent work experience.

Program requires one to pass FBI, Child abuse and neglect, criminal and Credit checks
DC, Houston, Los Angeles preferred (or remote). If remote, proximity to airport is required.
If remote, must have access to reliable internet
Must be willing to travel to locations in national network to provide on-site support on occasion
Program requires PREA, FBI and Child Abuse and Neglect Clearances
