Summary The ideal Staff Accountant would possess skills in accounting, have solid prior payroll experience and be responsible for assisting with daily operations within the finance department through direct participation in business processes. The position will work with the team in establishing, documenting, and maintaining procedures and control processes for accounting and finance. HYRID WORK OPPORTUNITIES GREAT BENEFITS GENEROUS PAID TIME OFF COMPETITIVE WAGES Principal Duties and Responsibilities Financial Administration Prepares, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles, and processes journal entries into appropriate accounts Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures to enhance workflow Assists with compilation of monthly revenue & expense statements for management Runs Cash Requirements for Payroll and submits Accounts Payable EFTs Responsible for preparing all Payroll related Journal Entries Monthly reconciliation of Payroll and Benefit related Balance Sheet accounts On-site deposit of checks received; deposit cash at bank as needed Payroll Administration Review and reconcile monthly benefit invoices and statements Gather data from staff and supervisors for accurate payroll processing Use Third Party Payroll software to process and submit payroll and pull required reports in a timely manner Prepare reports as requested Ensure proper tax payment for appropriate governmental agencies Respond promptly and appropriately to payroll requests from employees and third parties Enter deductions into the payroll system and generate reports as necessary Maintain strict confidentiality and exhibit discretion at all time Ensure correct preparation of W-2 forms annually Department Management / Other Financial Responsibilities Maintains appropriate internal controls and efficient financial procedures Comply with Accounting and organizational policies and procedures Report all out-of-compliance or unsafe activities to supervisor Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related subject from a four-year college or university preferred. Must be highly organized, professional, with good decision-making skills, and be able to communicate effectively; proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Requires you to be culturally sensitive to children and families and support cultural diversity throughout the program; have a valid driver’s license and able to travel throughout our service area as well as passing our pre-employment drug screening, criminal, HCPR and driving checks.
