ABOUT THE JOB:
The Senior Director of Strategic Finance is a member of the Finance leadership team assigned to a designated business unit(s) and is responsible for developing and leading business unit financial plans which are aligned with organization strategies, goals and objectives. The Senior Director must work collaboratively, resolve complex financial issues, and apply in-depth expertise. The role serves as the senior financial consultant to designated business unit leadership on financial planning and analysis including budget and other financial-related issues. In partnership with the business unit executive and local leadership team develops, implements and manages a financial plan to support achievement of local business priorities. Assesses and anticipates local budget needs, communicates needs proactively with the finance and accounting centers of expertise and business leadership, and seeks to develop integrated solutions. Role requires broad experience across the Finance and Accounting functions. This role will assist the Vice President and Senior Vice President of Finance on strategically important (top priority) initiatives/projects that span the CHST enterprise. Responsibilities include the successful program management and execution of identified transformational initiatives that support CHST’s ability to achieve its strategic and financial objectives. This leader must exhibit strong change management and analytical problem-solving skills as well as possess the ability to influence at all levels of the enterprise. Additionally, this leader will provide leadership within the CHST corporate Finance division.

Responsibilities:
- Assists Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President of Finance and Vice President of Finance on strategically important (top priority) initiatives/projects that span the CHST enterprise.
- Leads complex, enterprise-wide Finance transformation projects that advance CHST’s strategic/financial objectives and contribute to the organization’s long-term success.
- Establishes linkages between transformation projects and identified business strategies using methods such as financial analysis, process/continuous improvement philosophies, organizational readiness evaluations, and stakeholder assessments.
- Responsible for the management and performance results of assigned project resources and/or multi-disciplinary teams to ensure deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.
- Actively manages the prioritization and interdependencies of key projects and milestones.
- Ensures effective coordination and communication between Finance division and other key parts of the organization for all transformation initiatives/projects.
- Interfaces and works across the matrix of the organization constructively with all CHST enterprise leadership and teams.
- Completes other projects as requested by the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Senior Vice President and Vice President of Finance; including Children’s Health Board of Directors requests for information/analysis.
- Develops and maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit’s performance, its strategic plans and its competition. Leads the identification of key financial metrics and performance targets to measure and demonstrate local business outcomes.
- Partners with business unit leadership to improve the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting on business performance; creates a plan and budget to align with and support business unit objectives
- Provides real time support and analysis; and delivers insight which links financial reports to business strategies
- Builds partnership and maintains strong relationships with all senior leaders and their teams. Serve as a trusted advisor focused on adding value to the business unit.
- Collaborates with the business unit’s leaders to identify and address opportunities to optimize spending and other operational productivity outcomes; Identifies operational improvement opportunities and collaborates with financial centers of expertise and business unit leaders to develop and implement improvement plans
- Recommends and implements customized initiatives and practices consistent and competitive with the business unit’s industry standard practice , balancing the integration with enterprise wide initiatives and practices; Performs analysis of operational and financial metrics to assess effectiveness of programs and practices and reports to business unit’s leadership team
WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least 7 years effectively leading large, complex programs with significant change impact across organizational boundaries; preferably within the Finance division required
- At least 5 years working with senior-level executive leadership required
- Demonstrated excellence in financial analysis, issue identification, implications development, and recommendation/action preparation required
EDUCATION
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience along with graduate, professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience is required
