The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is hiring for a strong leader to serve as Family Services Supervisor I for our Assessment and Resource Team (ART). This team is responsible for working collaboratively with community partners to respond to citizens in crisis by providing resources/services to address barriers to self-sufficiency and by providing employment services to the unemployed and underemployed. What You Do and How You Do it: You will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the agency’s ART programs which include developing community relationships that often includes working some nights and weekends, collecting and analyzing data in order to evaluate the program activity and identify gaps in resources, providing supervision and leading an established team through change while operating as a model of leadership excellence within our organization. This position will represent the department at community events and serve as the lead on the Resource Emergency Shelter Team. Perform other work as required. Here’s What You Need: We prefer a master’s degree in social work with experience in social services or the nonprofit sector. A bachelor’s degree in social work or a bachelor’s degree in the human services field and one year of social work experience or human services experience is required; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. At least three years of social work or human services work along with prior supervisory experience is preferred. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within 30 days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. Knowledge and ability to apply supervisory principles and techniques that promote the professional development of staff and a high performing team Excellent oral and written communication skills to include the ability to interact with diverse populations Outstanding public speaking and presentation skills Ability to develop a team to meet changing needs Assertive and confident – especially during change and uncertain times Independent thinker and decision maker Strong computer skills Ability to deal effectively with conflict The salary range is $63,306-$74,505 annually, plus an attractive benefits package.
