*Position Overview*ing to and partnering with the Executive Director, the Finance Director and Administration will set BSP’s financial policy, systems and direction while also being an active participant, and driver, of BSP’s overall finance strategy. The Finance Director and Administration will lead all financial administration, budgeting, and implement the infrastructure and systems needed to support strategic objectives. They will be responsible for the oversight of administrative and financial systems including finance, accounting, internal information technology, human resources, and physical infrastructure. As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Finance and Administration will be involved in a range of strategic planning and internal initiatives.

As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Finance and Administration will play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as BSP continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity.

The Director of Finance and Administration will oversee BSP’s accounting software conversion (Quickbooks to Sage Intact) scheduled with a go-live date of February 2023.

The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative, seasoned, and confident leader who will be charged with leading a team to identify and implement operational and administrative solutions across the organization, with a strategic approach to managing our financial and risk management systems, human resources, and facilities.

The Director of Finance and Administration is comfortable planning and overseeing big infrastructure projects but is also passionate about getting all the details right.

*Strategy

• Partner with the Executive Director on all operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations to the Executive Director based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
• Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process as an integral member of the senior management team.
• Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with BSP’s strategic plan.
• Collaborate with the Director of Development, Development Coordinator, and Grants Accountant to align financial management with short- and long-term financial planning and projections.
• Engage the board finance committee around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model and operational delivery

*Financial Management

• Oversee budgeting, and the implementation of budgets, so as to monitor progress and present operational metrics both internally and externally.
• Ensure that finance staff maintain financial record systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and monitor the use of all funds.
• Analyze and present financial s in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial ing materials for all donor segments, and oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting.
• Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
• Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the ED; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
• Manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based, and grant accounting.
• Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/ ing system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
• Review all formal finance and administration procedures, processes, and recommend improvements to the systems in place and managing the systems going forward.
• Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the board of directors.

*Grants Management

• Serve as primary contact for multiple project staff; provide financial analysis, management support and guidance.
• With other team members, ensure that grant revenue and expenses are tracked efficiently, effectively, and within the scope of the intention of grants.
• Ensure financial coordination of grants to maximize resources.
• Support projects’ funding proposals: assist with budgets, review proposals, provide supporting documents and final financial statements.
• Ensure complete documentation of funding awards.
• Work with project directors to comply with funder’s terms and conditions, manage deliverables, monitor spending, request amendments, and plan spend-out.

*Risk Management

• Regularly assess and mitigate potential harms to the organization.
• Collaboratively design and recommend risk management policies and procedures, including insurance policies, and recommend system changes as necessary in alignment with growth of BSP’s staff and budget.
• Develop and oversee implementation of new infrastructure and projects as unique needs arise (e.g. fiscal sponsorship, pass-through grants.).
• Oversee all risk-management policies including but not limited to digital security, COVID-19 protocols, and any other risks to physical or reputational wellbeing across the organization.

*Human Resources and Administration

• Ensure strategic growth aligns with need for staff capacity and financial sustainability.
• Oversee the development of BSP’s human resources and administration, enhancing professional development, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, training and recruiting.
• Ensure that recruiting processes are consistent and streamlined.
• Oversee the management ofa comprehensive training program to educate employees regarding staff tools, policies and procedures.
• Work closely and transparently with all external partners including third-party vendors and consultants.
• Oversee administrative functions as well as facilities to ensure efficient and consistent operations the organization scales.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, systems/technology oversight, and financial management processes.
• Identify new operational system needs; delegate and oversee implementation.
• Identify or vet needs to customize or upgrade our internal database.
• Manage major organizational infrastructure projects such as establishing new offices.
• Serve as a directors team resource on the features and effective use of the technological tools and other software we use.
• Ensure careful management of resources, vendors, technology across BSP’s various offices.

*Qualifications

• Minimum of a BA, ideally with an MBA/CPA or related degree
• At least seven to 10 years of overall professional experience; ideally six-plus years of broad financial and operations management experience
• The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, ing and audit coordination for either a division or significant program area.
• Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
• A track record in grants management and accounting.
• Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and ing software
• Demonstrated skill in providing a high level of service to multi-stakeholders, ideally in a nonprofit context, required.
• Commitment to training programs that maximize individual and organization goals across the organization including best practices in human resources activities
• A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
• A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
