Position : Director of Finance & Operations
Reports to : Chief Executive Officer
Pay : $75,000 – $95,000 annually, paid on a bi-weekly basis. Pay based on experience in nonprofit accounting, supervision of others, and Quickbooks.

Shift available : This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week during normal business hours of 7 am to 6 pm Monday – Friday. This is not a remote work from home position. Flexible time can be considered with the approval of CEO. This position will require some overtime. Overtime will be based on needs of the agency and deadlines which must be met.
Brighter Tomorrows is a non-profit health and human services agency located in Dallas County, serving victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. We offer comprehensive and responsive solutions to our community affected by domestic violence and sexual assault through our 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, counseling services, and advocacy. Our service delivery framework is built on trauma-informed best practices that promote safety and self-determination and are offered by highly trained staff at no-cost to our participants.
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager. The right candidate should have extensive enough experience to be responsible for recording and maintaining our business’ financial transactions, such as
AP, A/R, payroll, bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation, grant billings, and audit workpapers.
The position will work within QB’s Desktop 2019 to provide consistent and accurate reporting to leadership.
This role will also process payroll and payroll taxes via QB’s on a biweekly basis.
Requirements:
· Bachelors degree in accounting or a related field with experience
· Nonprofit accounting experience – 3-5 years. Experience working in the same capacity is required.
– Must be responsible and self-managed, have excellent follow-up and tracking skills.
– Must be detailed oriented and consistently dependable
– Must have reliable transportation
– Minimum 4 years’ experience in QuickBooks Desktop is required
· Must pass a criminal and DMV background check (clear driving record)
· Must pass drug screening
· Valid Texas Driver’s License
Skills: Excellent attention to detail is required, stay on top of deadlines, as well as good written and verbal communications skills. Must be highly organized, motivated, and able to work independently. Computer literacy is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
– Grant management- grant billings, support for grant expenses, booking of grant revenue and expenses, communication with all funding sources, coordination of grant audits, ensures all grant reporting (financial and programmatic) is completed, is accurate, and is submitted in a timely manner. Attends grant meetings with funders.
– Ensure accurate and timely monthly, grant year-end, and fiscal year-end closing of the general ledger and processing of financial statements and dashboard for board reports for approval from CEO. Monthly balance sheet reconciliations,
– Audit coordination and preparation for grants and annual external audit. Preparation of all workpapers for audit, information needed for Form 990, and coordination of all information requested from auditors.
Communications with audit firm.
– Perform all aspects of general ledger accounting using QuickBooks Desktop. Including, but not limited to,
A/P, A/R, credit card reconciliations, research, vendor inquiries.
– Perform bank account reviews and reconciliations.
– Processing of taxes and support – payroll taxes, unemployment, and sales tax
– Book daily deposits.
– Process payroll, pay payroll taxes, and prepare quarterly tax reports.
– Supervision of Facilities Manager and Accounting Manager
– Oversight of administrative office management, oversight of IT and communication with external IT vendor, ensure administrative and M&R expenses approved are within budget and necessary.
– Responsible for procurement policies, procedures, practices. Procurement follows grant requirements, bid process was followed, are in order and on file in accounting.
– Oversight of agency general, umbrella, vehicle, liability, etc insurance. Policy application process, payments are timely, additional insureds are processed, etc.
Software / Technical Experience: The position requires the use of QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft
Office products – Outlook, Word and Excel. Four years’ experience with these software applications is required.
