Finance Editor
Washington, DC
Posted Aug 2, 2022 – Requisition No. 106022
Bloomberg is looking for a passionate editor in New York or Washington to join the team that covers the world’s biggest financial companies, the agencies that regulate them and the powerful people whose decisions affect everyone in America and beyond. You’ll be a member of the Finance group, one of Bloomberg’s highest-profile teams and home to some of the newsroom’s most accomplished journalists. They cover hyper-competitive beats, and they expect to win.
You’re comfortable assigning and editing urgent breaking news about companies, people and trends, as well as deeply confidential material from firms, individuals and enforcement agencies such as the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Just as important, you’re good at long-form storytelling that uses compelling writing, vivid graphics and video, podcasts, the website and social media to bring these developments to life for a broad audience.
Ideally, you have a previous background in covering business or law as an editor or reporter, but we’ll consider an editor with a track record of accomplishment in daily journalism at a major news organization. Professionalism, collaboration and comity are essential; you’ll work with reporters across the newsroom to deliver copy under heavy deadline pressure and ensure we stay ahead of the competition. Sometimes your stories will move markets, so the ability to handle sensitive non-public information is crucial.
The ideal applicant will have:
Experience editing or managing a high-profile team in a fast-paced environment
Ability to lead and coach reporters and foster a team environment
Strong editing and writing skills, with a premium on accuracy, precision and speed
A track record in breaking news and memorable enterprise stories
If this sounds like you, apply today!
