Our client an institutional investment firm, is seeking an Staff Accountant to join their team in the Downtown Houston Area! In this role you will be working with the Assistant Controller and assisting them on their day to day treasury and investment accounting tasks. This is a great company with great benefits. DUTIES:
- Handle supporting schedules and general ledgers and check trial balances
- Handle routine accounting activities on partnerships and investments
- Manage cash projection and check fair value calculations
- Monitor accountants and oversee and approve wires and journal entries
- Full Cycle AP, Bank Wires, cash applications, Reconciliations, Journal Entries, as well as assisting with daily banking transactions.
- Assist with compliance for taxing authorities
- Offer external and internal auditor investment aspects
- Identify appropriate solutions for potential problems by analyzing account data
- Prepare customer reports and maintain supporting documentation
- Prepare, check and distribute accounting packages and schedules as per specified timeframes
- Initiate investment capital calls’ wire transfers and ensure meeting of due dates
- Maintain documentation for accounts payable, purchasing, and treasury
Qualifications include:
- 2+ years of Investor/Treasury Accounting or similar experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. Active pursuit of CPA license a plus
- Team player comfortable working in a fast paced environment; easily interacts with all levels of management; flexible; easily adapts to change
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational, and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of investments, Crystal Reports, Sage and Advent software
