This position is an essential role responsible for maintaining a timely and accurate financial accounting system for the company and driving efforts to meet site financial goals. This position manages General Ledger, Financial Reporting, Fixed Assets, Intercompany Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions for the Charles City site and the U.S. Sales team organization. The Corporate Finance and Tax departments and Site and Executive Management teams depend on this position to provide reliable and relevant financial information for internal and external reporting, tax filings, and regulatory filings. The Financial Accounting Manager upholds a robust system of internal controls and actively seeks opportunities for Operational Excellence.
Responsibilities
Maintains accounting systems and financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Coordinates with sites to develop and implement best practices.
Supervises and promotes professional development of 4-5 team members responsible for General Ledger, Financial Reporting, Fixed Assets, Intercompany
Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions.
Manages the month-end closing process, prepares adjustments and reconciliations, approves team members’ entries and reconciliations and analyzes financial statement results for accuracy and completeness.
Drives efforts to meet cash flow and working capital targets. Prepares balance sheet and cash flow forecasts and identifies risks and opportunities to meet targets.
Ensures timely submission of routine and ad-hoc financial information and analyses to the Corporate Finance and Tax departments.
First point of contact for internal and external audits. Ensures audit schedules are accurate and audit requests are satisfied in a timely manner.
Performs periodic review of internal controls, makes recommendations for improvements and maintains controls assessment documents.
Serves as credit designee for the site, including credit account management and collections in accordance with the Accounts Receivable and Credit and Collections policy.
Ensures other regulatory and tax filings are completed as required.
Maintains compliance with relevant Site and Corporate policies and procedures.
Identifies and implements Operational Excellence opportunities to continuously improve the Accounting process and procedures.
