Accountant II
Established in 1984, Beemac, Inc., is a premier employee-owned transportation company providing asset-based trucking, logistics, port, warehousing, and specialized services to customers throughout North America. Headquartered in Ambridge, PA, Beemac operates over 400 trucks, and has 34 terminals nationwide.
Position Summary:
We’re looking for an Accountant with strong analytical abilities to join our team. Reporting to the Controller, you will participate in the month-end and year-end closing and annual audits. This position will be responsible for reporting P&Ls, analyzing data and performing other financial reporting. Responsibilities will also include completing account reconciliations, journal entries and data analysis. This position will have an emphasis on streamlining and improving existing processes and practices to not only improve the efficiency of the position but the overall effectiveness of the team. The Accountant II is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting activities requiring an experienced understanding of the accounting processes and the ability to investigate and explain variances with little supervision. This position starts with a base salary range of $62,000 – $65,000 annually, with an increase after 6 months based on performance.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Creates various financial statements and reports.
• Participates in the month-end and year-end closing process.
• Provide assistance to outside auditors to ensure compliance with financial policies and controls as needed.
• Performs data analysis, trending and reporting on a monthly and annual basis.
• Performs accounting activities requiring experienced insight and understanding.
• Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, month end reconciliations, and other operational duties as assigned by the Controller.
• Assist the Controller in accounting analysis, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
• Assist in preparation of internal financial statements with supporting documentation.
• Investigate accounts; understand and communicate causes of variances between actual, forecasted, budgeted and previous year results.
• Process payroll and analyze commissions and expense reports.
• Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous efficient and professional manner.
• Recommend changes in accounting and auditing systems, policies and procedures.
• Perform related duties as needed. Required
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or directly related field.
• Understanding of Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Minimum of 3 years progressive accounting experience.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills. Ability to analyze and problem solve with little direction.
• MS Office intermediate experience (at a minimum) – Excel, Outlook, Word.

Work Environment:
• This job operates in a professional office environment. This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demands. Possible flex schedule with options to work remotely a couple days a week
