Seeking a knowledgable and ambitious Director of Finance, with a strong background in accounting or controlling, who is eager to grow in a startup culture. This job is based in Nashville, but can be done remotely for someone willing to travel 2-4 times per year. This role will develop new and grow existing processes to comprehensively and holistically manage the financial operations and goals, tax and regulatory compliance of our growing business.

Role Purpose
Our Director of Finance and Operations is experienced and knowledgable about all things accounting, financial and management. They can see the big picture and dreams of the company, and can harness our revenue opportunities to help drive business, retain clientele and plan for the bigger picture, while tending to the small and very important details. Our Director of Finance is a master of implementing and optimizing systems and processes, and stays on top of every regulatory detail from filing appropriate local, state and federal taxes to processing revenue statements and everything in between. Our Director of Finance and Operations is an accuracy ace, owns their responsibilities (and their occasional mistakes). The perfect person for this role embraces the predictability and finiteness of finance, but seeks a position in which they can be part of an exciting, ever-changing and growing industry and group of people. This person will be the primary point of contact for all things financial on our team and will work directly with our CEO and COO.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all financial & accounting activities and personnel
- Set controls and budgets to mitigate risk and increase return on investments
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
- Monthly revenue conciliations and client statements
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure all revenue is appropriated reported and accounted for
- Follow up with guests who may be delinquent on payments
- Create, implement and streamline/optimize financial and operations processes
- Regularly audit and report expenses
- Own all business, sales, hotel, occupancy, local, state and federal taxes filings
- Handle vendor and contractor billing
- Assist with payroll
- Assist with some HR and IT tasks including onboarding/offboarding new employees and software systems
- Assist with sales/account management by interfacing with our clients and property owners
- Own the process of permitting properties appropriately and researching regulatory environments in new market, including permit renewals
- Produce and lead budget efforts
- Work directly with CEO and COO, as well as other Director-level employees to develop new services and products
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience in accounting management or other related fields
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate difficult messages clearly and empathetically
- Able to confidently solve complex problems, while maintaining client/team satisfaction and controlling costs
- Ability to calmly thrive under pressure, perform consistently and work with a sense of urgency
- Must have a minimum of 3 years working in a similar role or position.
- MBA and/or CPA preferred
- Must be a team player with an ability to work autonomously
- Must have experience using Expensify
- Must be tech savvy and well-versed in Google Docs, Slack, Mac products, iPhones

Pay: $60,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
