Finance Manager, Americas– Finance – Chicago
The Role
A 12-month fixed term contract role for an experienced finance manager based in the Chicago office of Aviva Investors. You will drive improvement in existing processes (including balance sheet reconciliations), strengthen the Finance risk and control framework, support the enhancement of internal financial reporting, manage the year end audit process, and support BAU Finance accounting activity where required.
The Team
Working with a local finance team of 2 people in Chicago reporting into the Finance team in London, UK. There is a third-party offshore team based in Sri Lanka that support the BAU activities of the Chicago based team. The team is responsible for all finance aspects of the Aviva Investors businesses in the United States and Canada.
Responsibilities
Undertake a detailed review of the balance sheet reconciliations. Identify weaknesses and areas for improvement in current process, and work with the wider team to implement improvements. This will involve being able to extract data from other systems (including the Revenue and billing system) to ensure data is aligned with data in the general ledger.
Liaise with the Risk and Controls teams locally and in the UK to ensure that key controls are identified, operating effectively, documented, and tested.
Work with the UK based Finance team to enhance regular internal financial reporting (including highlighting current and potential financial risk and issues), and robust cashflow forecasting.
Be the main point of contact for the external auditors of the Canadian entity, and manage the day engagement and delivery of
Support the Finance team with any other BAU or ad hoc activities as required.
