Job Summary :

This position will provide legal support for the Tank Inspections, Compliance & Enforcement (TICE) Unit in the UST Section.

Responsibilities will include creating, training, and reviewing escalated enforcement documents and referrals to the Attorney General’s Office, researching UST ownership, creating and reviewing site access agreements, bilateral agreements, financial hardship settlements, and managing all agreements created within the UST Section in accordance with the policy flow for agreements.

This position will also manage the UST Section’s portfolio of open escalated enforcement cases by tracking progress and due dates for compliance conditions that need to be met by UST Owners and Operators.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Job Duties :

• Reducing the amount of time required to return facilities to compliance by working with UST Case Managers
• Helping to create and review consent orders, compliance orders, and case referral memorandums (CRMs)
• Meeting the Agency’s escalated enforcement goal of 45 days
• Researching UST ownership at registered UST facilities
• Create and review site access agreements (including licenses and easements)
• Create and review State Lead Agreements (bilateral agreements, financial hardship settlements)
• Research property ownership, including the review of leases and deeds
• Management of all agreements in the UST Section in accordance with the policy flow for agreements

Selective Preference(s) :

Four-year Paralegal degree or two-year Paralegal degree with regulatory, real estate or property law experience preferred.

Criminal Justice degree with regulatory, real estate, or property law experience is also considered.
