Arcosa Specialty Materials is searching for a Staff Accountant for our Norman OK office. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare and maintain financial records to track the operations assets, liabilities, profits and losses, tax liabilities and other related financial activities.
Arcosa Lightweight is a leading producer and distributor in the Western and Southwestern U.S. of lightweight and natural aggregates, including expanded shale and clay, crushed stone, sand and gravel, asphalt rock, and other products.
What You’ll Do:
• Assist in financial forecasting, budgeting, and modeling to support the development of financial plans and strategies.
• Evaluate financial performance analyzing financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Identify key financial metrics and ratios to assess profitability, liquidity, efficiency, and overall financial health.
• Communicate financial analysis findings in a clear and concise manner to support decision-making processes.
• Analyze costs and expenses to identify areas of inefficiency and recommend cost-saving strategies.
• Conduct variance analysis to compare actual costs against budgets and identify areas of improvement.
• Utilize financial modeling techniques and software tools (e.g., Excel, financial management systems) to analyze data, create forecasts, and generate financial reports. Develop and maintain financial models that support decision-making processes.
• Maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
• Completes monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
• Assist the accounting manager in preparing documents and interpreting complicated financial information for operations team and upper management.
• Assists in internal audits of financial and operational processes.
• Assists with sales tax audits
• Assists with the preparation of sales and use tax reports
• Manages the company’s inventory and standard costing.
• Prepares and inputs journal entries.
• Provides timely and accurate information to corporate for the preparation of sales tax returns.
• Performs any other special projects as needed.
What You’ll Need:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting. Knowledge of accounting analysis including forecasting, trending, and budget creation.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Minimum of at least 5+ years of accounting experience
• Proficient MS Office Suite experience and highly proficient or advanced MS Excel skills.
• Experience with Oracle or NetSuite Accounting Software a plus. Experience working with Essbase, Hyperion, Adaptive Insights, or OneStream analysis tools would be a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA, CMA, CFA credentials or candidate preferred.
