The Colleague Services and Digital Capabilities (CSDC) organization at American Express plays a critical role in providing the best-in-class services, capabilities, data, and insights that enable a great colleague experience. The organization builds and evolves essential foundational and operational products and services to enable Colleague Experience Group (CEG) and the business. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key contributing member of the CSDC Servicing Organization. The Manager Payroll Tax Services, US Payroll Servicing will report to the Director, North America Payroll Servicing.

Here’s just some of what you’ll do in this role: US – Manager Payroll Tax Services
Lead a team that owns the US Payroll Tax end to end process and servicing
Analyzes, audits, reconciles, and resolves complex tax issues
Research and interprets current and new federal and state and local regulatory requirements, reporting and resolution
Resolves tax and withholding for payroll processing
Execution position responsibilities with SOX compliance and controls
Perform quarterly and annual balancing of wage and tax reports. Find and correct errors in a timely manner to ensure accuracy of payroll tax withholding, minimizing potential penalties
Acts as a liaison between Amex and Ceridian Dayforce to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting, system integrity, works to resolution pending items
Implements governance to verify new, updated tax rates and components are setup correctly in Ceridian Dayforce
Validates and provide signoff on payroll production tax reports and remittance of payroll
Directs the gathering and reconciliation of data for auditors for all payroll tax audit and inquiries
Directs and validates all processes and SOPs in the payroll tax environment
Identifies and approves solutions for continuous process improvement
Serves as the SME for all Tier III escalated payroll tax discrepancies
Directs all final review and sign-off of tax agency notifications and validates Ceridian Dayforce resolution of tax issues
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
5-7 years of practical Federal, State and Local experience relating to payroll taxation
Proven and demonstratable ability to effectively handle and resolve employee inquiries and issues
Broad experience with resolution of Federal, State and Local jurisdictional audits and notices
Experience with Ceridian Dayforce system, process, and reconciliation points
Preferred experience working in an outsourced payroll service environment

Ability to work across payroll team and tangent departments and vendors teams with positive attitude
Excellent oral and written communication skills
