How will you make an impact in this role?
The Manager in this role will be a part of the Enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis team within Corporate Planning, reporting to the Director of Finance, AXP Results. The primary responsibilities of this role are to manage and provide enhancements to the AXP Financial Reporting & Analysis processes and deliverables.
This role will have exposure to CP&A leadership and offers the successful candidate the opportunity to build their brand, develop expertise/knowledge, and improve Finance processes.
Background and Responsibilities
Drive AXP-wide reporting initiatives including: the review and analysis of results, providing expertise on key company projects, and developing and presenting insightful perspectives to Sr. leaders
Analyze and communicate AXP results both monthly and quarterly. Key deliverables include the CFO Flash, Financial Disclosure package, and P&L analysis
Provide Leadership in the management and reporting of American Express financial results
Effective collaboration within the team as well as across the Finance community, especially the CP&A, External reporting and Investor relations teams
Build and develop strategic relationships to drive results, and provide valuable insights
Exhibit thought leadership and execute on driving continuous optimization, automation and streamlining to transform both technologies and processes.
Drive talent strategy that encourages development
Support Finance initiatives and ad hoc projects
Minimum 3-5 years Finance experience. Accounting/Finance degree preferred
Effective leadership skills: ability to bring others with you, effective at setting the agenda and doing it the right way
Highly motivated individual with intellectual curiosity and a proven track record of driving results, strong project management skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced and dynamic environment
Strong communication skills – verbal and written, with the ability to break down complex ideas into understandable and actionable messages
Track record of innovation and thought leadership, adopting a growth mindset to process efficiency and effectiveness
Knowledge of the financial reporting processes. Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Oracle and TM1 experience is preferred. An understanding of Power BI, Hyperion Essbase, HFR and OBI is a plus
Ability to influence and drive alignment among various organizations and disciplines
Understanding of financial planning and results analysis
