Position Summary
This Staff Accountant position supports the General Accounting Department in the areas of Account Payable, Accounts Receivable and the monthly financial close.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Prepare monthly closing entries.
- Perform various account analyses for various balance sheet accounts.
- Review travel advances and maintain travel records for completed Museum travel.
- Prepare monthly aging reports in Oracle AR.
- Reconcile and analyze quarterly activity to assist in a timely and accurate 1099 filing.
- Audit and back up payables.
- Manage and trouble shoot requests and inquiries from departments and vendors.
- Analyze/Review vendor statements to ensure past due invoice rectification.
- Assist in requests for accounting records and data for the annual external audit.
- Develop and maintain other special projects and duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required (Accounting degree preferred).
- Strong computer and spreadsheet (Excel) skills required.
- Ability to meet predetermined deadlines, assess priorities, and manage multiple projects.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills required to effectively identify and communicate potential problems and propose solutions.
- Must have the ability to understand and utilize the basic concepts and principles of accounting methods and procedures in the performance of daily job functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle, MarkView and Tessitura software a plus.
