Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; MBA degree and CPA a plus
• 5+ years of accounting knowledge with 2+ years of work experience in not-for-profit entity
• Public accounting, audit and transaction processing experience required
• Experience with the implementation of a new ERP system preferred
• Experience training or supervising team members. Endowments• experience required
• Lease accounting experience with preferred competencies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to independently develop and analyze alternative solutions and make recommendations
• Flexibility and ability to work effectively and gracefully under considerable time pressure on high visibility, high stakes projects
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Responsibilities:
• Perform a variety of senior level accounting activities, which require advanced professional competency of accounting theories and principles at the senior non-management level
• Examine, analyze, and interpret complex accounting records for the purpose of ensuring compliance with accounting standards
• Prepare income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other specialized accounting statements and reports. Advise others on accounting systems or other financial and budgetary data
• Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Perform monthly analysis of income statement activity such as the lease income and expense accounts
• Responsible for the recording and maintenance of internal loans and faculty loans, including the preparation of associated tax forms
• Responsible for the preparation of various financial statements including but not limited to: Self- insurance program, Benefit plans and consolidated financial statements
• Responsible for the preparation of year end work papers for auditors. Participates in the implementation of new accounting standards
• Support the annual tax reporting process, which may include preparing various supporting schedules
