The Senior Financial Analyst is a strategically-minded individual responsible for providing cutting-edge financial reports with a focus on illustrating plan performance, identifying trends, variances, and root-cause analysis to both internal and external clients. ‚ In addition, the Senior Financial Analyst is tasked with developing financial models, preparing budget projections, and performing research and analysis as may be required by leadership.‚ This position works with outside analytics platform support personnel to research, prototype, and pilot emerging analytics tools and platforms to ensure Lighthouse Group stays ahead of the marketplace.‚ A Senior Financial Analyst acts as a team lead and oversees the financial analysts reporting team, handling logistics and supporting strategic initiatives and goals ensuring the desired results are met by managing and guiding their team‚„s efforts.‚ Communication with team members, carrier partners, and third-party vendors is required. Responsibilities ‚ ‚ Serve as a role model and lead by setting a good example in all facets of the Financial Analyst role. ‚ ‚ Facilitate/coordinate team huddles as needed. ‚ ‚ Assist teams with monthly, quarterly, and annual client proposals, presentations, and reporting. ‚ ‚ Own and maintain all dashboards, ongoing reports, and ad hoc requests from team members. ‚ ‚ Maintain an efficient and organized data filing system. ‚ ‚ Compile and analyze pre-renewal, renewal, and carrier claims/utilization reports. ‚ ‚ Interpret data; analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports and analysis. ‚ ‚ Provide guidance/recommendations regarding alternate funding to client teams. ‚ ‚ Produce 40 financial reports monthly, including total cost reports and loss ratio analyses. ‚ ‚ Create and continue to build templates for all core and ad hoc reports as directed. ‚ ‚ Create complex/customized financial reports such as cost projections, single or multi-year budgets, analysis/modeling of plan design changes, and IBNR analysis as directed. ‚ ‚ Identify data cleansing opportunities within our source systems and suggest ways to improve data accuracy and/or collection of new data points. ‚ ‚ Present data findings and deliver takeaways in simple and easy-to-understand ways. ‚ ‚ Act as part of the client team and engage in carrier and client relations as needed. ‚ ‚ Locate and define new process improvement opportunities. ‚ ‚ Create and maintain a positive work environment ‚ build trust, open communication, creative thinking & cohesive teamwork. ‚ ‚ Support Lighthouse Group culture by leading by example. ‚ ‚ Performs other duties and projects as required. Qualifications ‚ ‚ 5 years of related experience in the health care industry ‚ ‚ Bachelor‚„s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Mathematics, or related ‚ ‚ Proven experience ‚ ‚ MBA in finance or analytics is a plus ‚ ‚ Actuarial experience is a plus ‚ ‚ Ability to present financial information to a non-financial audience ‚ ‚ Detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure environment ‚ ‚ Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. ‚ ‚ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills ‚ ‚ Experience with analysis of benefits, claims data, and plan design (self-funded and fully-funded) ‚ ‚ Experience with Power BI or other analytics software ‚ ‚ Ability to be self-directed, can work independently and as part of a team ‚ ‚ Ability to use both verbal and written communication skills effectively in group and one-on-one sessions ‚ ‚ Ability to manage multiple projects at one time ‚ ‚ Hold Michigan insurance license and keep current at all times Equal Opportunity Employment We’re an‚ equal opportunity employer .
