POSITION
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is an integral part of the executive leadership team and is expected to participate in the financial and functional decision-making processes necessary for the successful attainment of the organization’s operational and financial goals. The CFO is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the organization in accordance with accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other regulatory and advisory organizations and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the health care environment. The CFO will also ensure data integrity, function as financial fiduciary, manage financial performance, and mitigate financial risk. The CFO serves as a strategic partner and advisor to the CEO to diversify contracts, add additional lines of business to ensure net revenue maximization and make sound business decisions related to new growth opportunities.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE
· Master’s degree in Accounting or related field is required
· Certification in public accounting (CPA) required
· A minimum of 10 years of financial experience, with a minimum of 5 years in senior management role, ideally in the Healthcare environment.
· Experience working with federal, state, and private grants
· Knowledge of SAP accounting software
· Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with coworkers, clients, members, providers, and customers
· Maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
· Ability to effectively monitor and manage internal controls
· Expert Financial statement analysis
· Expert decision analysis and risk management
· Experienced in investment decisions
· Sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational and cost management focus
· Ability to read, analyze and interpret most complex documents
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Expert Computer skills (Excel)
· Revenue cycle experience is a plus
· FQHC experience is a plus
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
· Provides leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
· Oversee cost and general accounting, accounts receivable/collections and payroll.
· Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities
· Ensure credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal and grant requirements, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports. Advise management of actions and potential risks.
· Act as advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the corporation may enter.
· Provide status of financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting, and reporting key financial data including preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including tax returns, corporation commission filings, grant required reports, cash requests and cash accounting.
· Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
· Arrange for and participate in audits as required and appropriate.
· Coordinate the preparation and review of policy and procedure manuals for general accounting and business office functions. Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
· Participate in the development of the corporation’s plans and programs as a strategic partner. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization. Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of innovative programs/strategies and regulatory action.
· Review and analyze medical cost performance, identifying and implementing opportunities for improved revenue. Monitor and compare across Health Centers, populations, provider panels, and external and internal benchmarks.
· Review and analyze monthly cash flow for accuracy. Analyze administrative costs, identifying and implementing opportunities for improved profitability.
· Facilitate annual budget process.
· Support health plan strategic analysis and planning.
· Represent the finance function by participating on committees, task forces, work groups, and multidisciplinary teams, as necessary.
· Manage the billing and encounter process for the health centers, ensuring that all encounters are successfully submitted, and billing errors are resolved.
· Maintain cooperative and effective workplace relationships and adhere to company code of conduct.
