POSITION:
Senior Accountant
DUTIES:
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring accurate
financial reporting and analysis to support our business decisions.
Ensure the integrity and accuracy of our financial statements through
activity analysis and account reconciliations. Prepare and consolidate
balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, as needed
for all of Backcountry’s brands. Specific duties include: Prepare
consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering
as well as analyzing information from the general ledger system;
Perform analytics to access and understand changes; Oversee Staff
Accountant(s) and review Journal Entries, Balance Sheet
Reconciliations and Variance Analysis; Own and manage key areas of the
Balance Sheet/P&L responsible for any variances in addition to future
implications; Prepare the weekly Cash Flow with Reporting to CFO;
Understand the intricacies of the inputs and outputs and how it
reflects Backcountry’s liquidity; Maintain and balance consolidation
system by inputting and verifying data; Analyze information and
options; develop reports; Prepare general ledger entries, maintain
records and files; reconcile accounts; Prepare payments by accruing
expenses; request disbursement; Substantiate financial transactions;
audit documents and prepare account roll-forwards; Maintain financial
security by following internal controls; Implement accounting
procedures and internal controls by analyzing current practices;
recommend improvements; Answer accounting and financial questions
through research and data analysis; Identify, research, and explain
variances between actual and forecasted performance; Protect
Backcountry’s value by keeping information confidential; Keep abreast
with accounting trends and self-educate as needed; Leverage technology
and implement automation to the accounting function; and Bridge the
gap between subject-matter-experts and engineers to solve system
related issues in NetSuite.
REQUIREMENTS: M aster’s degree or foreign equivalent in
Accounting, Taxation, or a related field of study, and 1 (one) year
of experience in an accounting role. Work experience or academic
coursework must have included: One (1)
year of accounting experience with a large public firm; experience
using automation tools including Alteryx or Knime; Experience working
with large data volumes consisting of inventory data including cost
and quantity; Experience gathering audit evidence for both tax and
financial audits; Experience with industry’s month-end close process;
and Experience working with developers in creating system solutions
for internal use software. Active Utah CPA license
