Description
The Director of Finance will oversee all financial activities, ensure statutory and GAAP compliance, and contribute to strategic planning and policy formulation. This role demands a high level of expertise in the health insurance industry, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of finance professionals.
Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Manage financial forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning processes.
Monitor and report on key financial metrics and performance indicators.
Ensure adherence to all statutory and regulatory requirements specific to the health insurance industry.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant GAAP standards and statutory regulations.
Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies during audits and examinations.
Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure financial integrity.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute long-term financial strategies.
Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to inform business planning.
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the finance department.
Manage the recruitment, training, and evaluation of finance staff.
Streamline financial processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy.
Oversee the implementation and management of financial software and tools.
Ensure effective cash flow management and optimize working capital.
Serve as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and auditors.
Communicate financial results and strategies to the board of directors and executive management.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key business partners and departments.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.
MBA or Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is strongly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Significant experience in the health insurance industry is highly desirable.
Proven track record of managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
Skills and Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
