GENERAL SUMMARY:
District Wharf Properties, LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. The Staff Accountant will support the accounting team for The District Wharf (“The Wharf”) a 3.2M SF mixed-use project on the Potomac River with retail, multifamily, office, hotel, maritime and entertainment uses.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare month-end close for several entities across The Wharf portfolio.
· Record monthly journal entries and prepare/reconcile balance sheet accounts.
· Work closely with property managers to ensure that accounting is correct at The Wharf properties.
· Deposit checks across numerous bank accounts.
· Perform bank reconciliations across numerous bank accounts.
· Prepare intercompany invoices for multiple Wharf entities.
· Upload and code payables for multiple Wharf entities and assist with check batching/payments.
· Prepare quarterly workpaper support for the consolidated Wharf entity.
· Support the annual audit.
· Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
· 2-5 years of accounting experience. Experience with A/P, A/R, and/or general ledger preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required. Experience with real estate accounting, MRI, or AvidXchange is a plus.
· Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
· Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, and excellent organizational skills.
· Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
· Must be in the Washington, DC area. This position is required to be in-office at The Wharf 4-5 days per week.
