Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Financial Accounting you will manage the accounting activities and staff for assigned business component. Perform analyses and reporting for assigned financial area. Perform financial research projects and analysis of business operations. Use sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), creating/uploading journal entries, distributing routine financial reports, maintaining monthly accounting schedules. You will spend a significant amount of time leading and developing the accounting staff and building relationships with management throughout the organization.
Position Responsibilities
Be the subject matter expert and central point of contact for accounting issues for assigned business areas (i.e., A/R, Cash, Payroll).
Represent the Corporate Controllers Group (CCG) as functional business owner of assigned business areas for system changes/implementation projects.
Evaluate effectiveness of team processes and procedures and develop improvements.
Manage period-end close activities
Maintain controls over accounting transactions to ensure the accuracy of the general ledger including documentation and sign off of Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
Ensure all accounting transactions are properly recorded in accordance with GAAP and in accordance with policies and common business language as defined by Corporate Accounting.
Coordinate and review account reconciliations and perform review of assigned balance sheet components.
Manage special projects involving accounting matters, such as mergers/acquisitions/divestitures, policy updates, business partner requests, creation of new processes and business system conversions.
Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
Accomplish staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; conducting training; implementing enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
Provide guidance and communicate with remote team members in a 3rd party outsourcing relationship.
Complete ad hoc requests from business/corporate partners.
Assist business partners adhering to policies and procedures and in resolving problems encountered in performing their daily business.
Coordinate and play key role in internal and external audits.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, etc.
Previous experience managing a team required
Demonstrated ability to research and reconcile multiple accounts
Proficient PC and MS skills
Experience with SAP preferred
