opening. This position maintains an important role by managing A/R,
A/P, GL, and other crucial aspects of the organization’s accounting
practices. The ideal person for this position will have an enthusiasm
for nonprofit accounting and strong people skills.
*Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:*
* Prepare
annual audit schedules of internal controls and financial details
* Answer financial questions from external and internal customers by
researching and interpreting data
* Understand and monitor
compliance with accounting policy and internal controls across all
affiliates
* Monthly bank and account reconciliations
*
Assist with annual budget preparation and regular internal and
external reporting
* Maintain archival records and monitor vendor
status in compliance with policy
* Monitor budget and accounting
transactions recorded in the general ledger
* Perform
reconciliations of significant account balances including A/R, A/P,
fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and current liabilities and
preparation of adjustments as needed
* Prepare and record General
Ledger entries by maintaining records and files
* Monitor account
balances and perform activity analyses
* Reconcile and record
journal entries from 3rd party vendors
* Review and approve cash
receipts/invoice batches
* Follow up with overdue invoices and
collect payments
* Complete customer forms and other ad hoc
requests
*Requirements of the Senior Accountant:*
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; active CPA or M.S. in Accounting

* 2 – 4+ years of experience directly related to the
duties and responsibilities specified
* Experience in multiple
facets of accounting and can learn and act quickly and competently
* The ability to work effectively with staff members at all levels
and fit within the culture of the organization
* The ability to
meet deadlines and deal with the pressures associated with those
deadlines
* A creative problem solver, detail-oriented,
self-directed, and able to handle multiple projects/tasks at one
time
* Flexibility and desire to be part of a growing, dynamic
organization
* Excellent written and verbal communication
skills
* Proficiency in Excel and Office Products
