About Richmond Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. (RNHS)
RNHS was founded in 1981 by dedicated low-income Richmond residents to address the redlining issues and the community’s housing needs. The organization’s goal is to strengthen low-income families and neighborhoods; through its development and programming.
The Position: The Finance Manager will manage and support the organization’s day-to-day operations and accounting needs; this individual will be required to prepare, analyze financials, and maintain and manage the organization’s budget. The Finance manager will also engage with the Board’s Finance committee to prepare and present reports and manage the organization’s grant income and expenses.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move things up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The organization currently works in a hybrid model (in office/ remote). The work environment is fast paced; a person performing this role must work well in small groups and be able to solve problems in the absence of management. Overall objectives:
The Financial Manager is to develop long, and short-term budgets based on historical data, budget actuals, and the plan for the organization’s expansion. Non-profit organizations, unlike for-profit businesses, cannot rely on stockholder equity or profit from previous years to disguise budget problems. This means coordinating with our Property Manager, Executive Director, Director of Operations, and other RNHS employees and partners to verify acceptable costs.
This role requires an individual to be an integrated member of the RNHS staff, to support its mission and values; while tracking emerging issues in the housing industry, and to network with prospective partners to identify new opportunities to further the mission of RNHS.
