The Manager, Production Finance for Sony Pictures Animation will be a key strategic partner within the Production Finance team in the support and analysis of Animation production. The individual will be instrumental in managing the processes for generating cost reports, cash flows, departmental reporting while evaluating and analyzing risk. Cross functional interaction is required to provide insight and guidance to studio executives, physical production, studio operations, business affairs, creative and studio marketing departments. A detailed understanding of the feature animation pipeline and quota is necessary to provide advice on progress and performance of each title at Sony Pictures Animation.
Core Responsibilities
Manage weekly cost reporting and per title analysis for all animation features, work with senior management and producers to communicate areas of risk and opportunity.
Create budgets and production calendars for all animated features
Track and analyze production animation spend by third-party vendors. Ensure pipeline and quota are met. Prepare weekly reports to track production labor, by location, and estimate tax credits.
Oversee accounting systems, process improvements, and ensure policy continuity across all animation productions
Manage weekly reporting for cash flows and estimate guild spend for residuals
Manage production payroll, accounts payable and contractual payments for all animation titles.
Job Requirements
B.A./B.S. Finance/Accounting degree
3+ years – Studio Animation / VFX Production Finance experience preferred
Advanced Excel Skills required, Business Intelligence experience preferred, Movie Magic budgeting knowledge a plus
Experience with Animation 839 union benefit contributions and jurisdiction
Outstanding interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
Excellent analytical, organizational and forecasting skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work and remain detail oriented
Deep understanding of animation production cycles including quota
The anticipated base salary for this position is $86,000 to $114,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
