Position: Marketing Director, Wholesaler and GPO Marketing
Portfolio Marketing serves as a catalyst for Genentech’s world class marketing organization. Portfolio Marketing delivers a competitive advantage for Genentech by creating superior value for patients and customers. We do this by shaping product development, driving beliefs and behaviors, optimizing patient outcomes and customer experience. We have deep customer knowledge, we set the standard for portfolio customers with the broader Marketing Function, we shape portfolio marketing strategy, and we execute on portfolio marketing opportunities.
The Marketing Director role – focused on business-to-business (B2B) marketing with our wholesaler and GPO customers is accountable to identify opportunities that enable us to drive near-term revenue and advance the triple aim for our portfolio. This will require partnership across the organization and with these B2B entities to deliver on these goals with a customer-centric mindset. The marketer uses resources and their network to make meaningful progress with patients and customers each day.
Key Job Responsibilities
Develops and implements a Wholesaler and GPO Strategy for Genentech’s current and future portfolio that drive near-term revenue, help advance the triple aim, and shape key customer partnership initiatives to transform how healthcare is delivered
Mobilizes and influences several squads, marketing and field teams to execute on an integrated GPO marketing strategy across all segments (Hospital and Community settings)
Collaborates cross-functionally to shape the future of healthcare through triple aim initiatives and leverages the breadth and depth of our portfolio with B2B customer capabilities to achieve this vision
Accountable for strategy and promotions as it relates to executing the Wholesaler and GPO Strategies
Partners effectively with internal marketing teams to leverage GPO channels to educate HCP customers
Coordinates amongst and mobilizes respective Therapeutic Area and Portfolio Marketing teams to improve customer experiences
Collaborates with functional partners to ensure pull through across the marketing and ecosystem networks
Develops strategies and tactics to regularly assess executional effectiveness and plans to learn and iterate
May lead a Community of Practice for their subject matter expertise
Influences effectively to have significant impact on these objectives and goals
Plays a leadership role in the Promotional Review Committee (PRC) to ensure development of compliant and effective promotional tactics and effective pull-through of these tactics; partners closely with Legal and Regulatory organizations
Coaches and advises Marketing Managers and Team Leads on the responsibilities below:
Uses and commissions appropriate market research. Analyzes and assesses the research to extrapolate meaning and opportunities that drives the product’s overall market strength and positioning
Identifies and works regularly with appropriate internal and external resources to support product marketing strategies and activities
Responsible for ensuring high quality tactical execution and a seamless, well integrated brand message and overall position across multiple marketing platforms.
Creates promotional messages, resources and execution plan for the field organization. Partners with the field teams to establish and monitor metrics for tactical roll out of marketing activities

Customer Experience: Ability to create and execute customer-centric programs and solutions to positively and meaningfully engage customers across the care continuum
Market Execution: Ability to create, implement and iterate impactful tactics with clear and measurable outcomes to the business and the customer
Account Marketing and Partnerships: Ability to identify, develop and maximize effective working relationships with customers and partners to gain alignment on customer needs and optimize business and customer outcomes
Skills and Competencies
Expertise in all aspects of Product Marketing to include positioning, branding, campaign development and channel mix
Deep knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem including health economics, policy and the regulatory environment
Knowledge of each customer type e.g. Premier, Vizient, HPG, Cardinal, AmeriSourceBergen, McKesson and our collective end customer – HCPs and patients
Adapt and pull through contracting strategy for individual brands
Ability to think with an enterprise mindset
Ability to influence and inspire individuals and teams across the CMG network, from front-line employees to the executive level
Breadth of experience in product/therapeutic area, access and interactive marketing with deep expertise in one of these areas
Ability to flex and thrive in an ambiguous environment undergoing transformational change
Strong customer orientation and focus
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
MBA or other related graduate level degree preferred
Experience
12-15 years of experience with the majority working in a product marketing function is required
Understanding of Wholesalers and GPOs is strongly preferred
Experience in the managed care, pharmaceutical or biotech industry preferred
Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech field sales preferred
Experience in creating marketing strategies, plans and tactics that have strengthened market positioning and financial results is required
