About the Position:
The position is responsible to work with Authority legal staff and other Authority staff to provide legal support to the Authority’s business units, including closing multifamily loan transactions, originating and servicing single family mortgage loans and other Authority programs. The position also provides general support and assistance to the General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsel and other Authority staff counsel in order to provide legal support to Authority staff in all business areas
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist Authority counsel in completing multifamily closings by communication with internal and external staff, review of due diligence matters including title, survey, organizational and opinion documents, and loan financing documents.
Assist Authority counsel in performance of legal representation for Authority on matters including single family origination and servicing, litigation, legal compliance, freedom of information compliance, and Authority administration and board governance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BS/BA in related field; requires five years’ of experience as a real estate paralegal; Paralegal Certificate/degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Must have experience with commercial development real estate closings, with affordable housing or related experience a plus, land records and title searches/reports and title insurance policies, loan document and related document drafting and editing. Experience with statute research and/or general legal research, state government matters, and basic litigation matters also a plus. Requires strong verbal and written communication skills, attention-to-detail, extensive organizational skills, and professional telephone skills. Must have excellent skills in Microsoft Word™ and Excel.
Salary: $65,651 to $86,553 (DOE)
