Job Responsibilities:
Cultivate strong business partnerships while gaining a thorough understanding of the business being supported; leverage understanding of business to respond to internal and external questions and requests. Work closely with underwriting team to understand the business and provide the financial operational support needed.
Communication and interaction with reinsurers/captives, underwriting team, IT personnel, TPA’s, and various external and internal contacts on a day-to-day basis.
Review ceded reinsurance contracts and ensure accounting and cessions are in line with contract terms, using strong attention to detail.
Review and release of the Reinsurance Statement of Account (cession/bordereau) to the reinsurance brokers and/or reinsurers/captives in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the terms of the reinsurance contract.
Preparation and review of cash receipts and disbursements processing, and the payment and/or recovery of reinsurance. Preparation/review of Letter of Credit funding requirements on a quarterly basis and submission to reinsurers/captives.
Calculation of collateral funding requirements.
Assist with testing and implementation of new systems/processes.
Help identify inefficiencies and implement more efficiencies in the operational aspects of captive accounting.
Completion of key assignments/special projects that may be assigned from time to time.
Required Skills/Experience:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Team player.
Strong Excel skills.
Ability to analyze data, including ability to recognize anomalies in data.
Dynamic and motivated individual, capable of handling complexity.
Ability to effectively communicate analysis and conclusions to financial information end-users.
Education:
Minimum 8 years of North American property and casualty insurance industry experience.
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required.
Strongly recommend experience with captives and/or reinsurance.
CPCU or other Insurance designations is a plus.
